From client to the Adjust team: Diaset’s employee story

Tiahn Wetzler, Senior Manager, Content & Editorial, Adjust, Oct 28, 2020.
In this month’s employee story, we catch up with Performance Marketing Manager Diaset Newby, based at our headquarters in Berlin.
Diaset works in the inbound marketing team, and made the move to Adjust after working as a mobile marketer at football media company and Adjust client OneFootball for several years. We spoke to him to find out about his career path, what he loves about marketing, and what brought him to Adjust.
Hey Diaset, can you start off by telling us a bit about your background in marketing?
It’s quite broad - my first marketing role was an internship with a well-known German shoe manufacturer. From there I’ve had the opportunity to work in marketing for a sports nutrition brand, couponing site, football app and a fintech company. Pretty much all of my experience was in B2C, and now I’m really enjoying the challenge of B2B marketing with Adjust and the new knowledge that has come with it. Something I really enjoy about working in marketing is that because it touches on pretty much every vertical you can think of, it offers a lot of choice in a career path.
You worked for Adjust client OneFootball before, what was it like working with Adjust client-side?
As someone who’s a bit footy-mad, my experience at OneFootball was great, and it’s where I first got to know Adjust. As I’m sure you can tell, the company made a very positive impression which ultimately made me want to join the team. My account manager back then had plenty of time for calls and face-to-face meetings whenever a question about the platform came up, so I couldn’t ask for more. Mobile Spree (a conference for app marketers hosted by Adjust) invites as well as the occasional Kendrik Lamar concert at the Mercedes Benz arena in Berlin were also admittedly great perks of being a client.
Having hands-on experience with the platform during my time as a client came very much in handy during the onboarding process, part of which was aimed at familiarizing yourself with the product and company pillars.
What led you to make the decision to come to Adjust?
Having regular contact with Adjust employees and hearing how much they enjoyed working for the company was what first made me want to join. Its reputation within the industry also played a big hand in my decision. Once the hiring process began I was also really impressed with how well-organized and thorough it was. Speaking to so many different people during that time gave me plenty of opportunities to make sure it was a good fit for both sides.
What do you think underpins a good marketing strategy?
For us at Adjust it’s essential we understand the challenges and opportunities our clients face, and keep up-to-date with hot topics in the industry. Speaking with people from the industry really helps here. It’s also key to be able to address potential clients in their preferred language since we are a global company. We have a fantastic in-house localization team who help make this happen!
How has the team environment and spirit been, especially considering working from home?
We have a good team spirit and from the initial company onboarding to the team onboarding, everyone has been very accommodating - especially considering that we’re all working from different places. I couldn’t have asked for better support with working from home. The WFH budget provided by Adjust helped me to get set up with a little office in my apartment and despite being carried out entirely remotely, the onboarding process was the most thorough and enjoyable one I’ve been part of in my career.
The mentoring program at Adjust has been a massive help for me in getting settled at the company and within the team. My mentor Nataliya was able to offer loads of support and answer all the questions I had when I joined. I’ve also already learned a lot of new skills in my first few months and still feel as though I’m learning something new every day which keeps the job very interesting for me.
I’ve really enjoyed the whole experience so far and I look forward to finding out what’s in store next.
