A small update to Snapchat's campaign structure
Aug 8, 2017
We've changed the way that we work with Snapchat's API. Now you're able to receive data at the creative level, adding a fourth new set of data to the three you already had access to (those being network, campaign and adgroup.)
What does this mean?
You'll now see what's called 'ad squad', a new level of information which will provide you with extra-granularity to your Snapchat campaigns.
One final note: this change only applies to devices not already attributed to a Snapchat campaign. This means that all current devices will still remain on their current trackers using the current campaign structure, no migration of old campaign structure to new campaign structure will take place. Only new devices (whether from old or new snapchat campaigns) will use the new campaign structure.
A technical overview
Currently, the structure looks like this:
Network level: Snapchat Installs
Campaign level: Snapchat Campaign name and ID
Adgroup level: Snapchat Ad name and ID
Creative level: none
Or, more formally:
Snapchat Installs::Snapchat Campaign name (Snapchat Campaign ID)::Snapchat Ad name (Snapchat Ad ID)::unknown
With the update, the new structure is as follows:
Network level: Snapchat Installs
Campaign level: Snapchat Campaign name and ID
Adgroup level: Snapchat Ad Squad name and ID
Creative level: Snapchat Ad name and ID
Or:
Snapchat Installs::Snapchat Campaign name (Snapchat Campaign ID)::Snapchat Ad Squad name (Snapchat Ad Squad ID)::Snapchat Ad name (Snapchat Ad ID)
